Today Creedmoor is a thriving small community 15 miles southeast of Austin with a growing population of almost 7000 friendly residents. The area has experienced recent strong growth and the population has increased by over 40% since the census in 2000. The median home price in Creedmoor is just over $217,000. The town of Creedmore has a variety of home choices including a selection of homes built from the 1930s. Some say the town was called Willow Springs whiles others claim it was Creekmore; either way the community was thriving with a drugstore and barbershop, a blacksmith shop and an ice cream parlor, a general store, a grocery store and a meat market. The name of Creedmoor was not attached to the town until the inception of the post office in the 1880s. During the late 1880s and into the 1900s the town slowly grew as more people and businesses came to Creedmore. Dr Jacob T Wilhite, foremost rabies authority and Pastuer Institute at Austin State Hospital founder and director was born in Creedmore. In 1982 Creedmoor became the 9th community to incorporate, avoiding annexation by Austin.
