When the first post office opened, the town of Liberty Hill was three miles west of the present location. William Oliver Spencer was appointed postmaster and suggested the name Liberty hill. In the next several years the community would move east two times and finally settling in its present day location by 1884. The community was small but strong and revolved around agriculture. Today Liberty Hill is a small but growing community with just over 1500 residents.

Liberty Hill is just 33 miles northwest of Austin and conveniently located a short distance from the thriving town of Georgetown. Liberty Hill is a small tight knit community where neighbors take the time to wave and no one is ever too busy to stop and have a chat. Downtown is home to several classic turn of the century buildings made of local stone. The community takes pride in its history but also views modern conveniences services and businesses as a crucial part of a growing economy . Nearby many businesses and services are available and the residents like the close proximity to these conveniences while maintaining Liberty Hill's quiet charm.

Homes in and around Liberty Hill range in price from older homes and manufactured homes starting in the $50,000 and $60,000 while newer homes start in the $150,000 range and continue through $500,000. Many homes in Liberty Hill are spread out and sit on larger lots. New communities are spread throughout the area with homes ranging is size from 1700 square feet up to 2700 square feet and all are architecturally eye pleasing and offer modern amenities for buyers of the 21st century.

Liberty Hill has its own school district, Liberty Hill Independent School District. The district is small with 2,200 students attending 5 area campuses. The district attracts new families to the community with good test scores and small class sizes. The district incorporates help from family and parents which makes the learning environment of Liberty Hill comfortable yet enriching.
