Point Venture stated out in early 1969 as a resort community on Lake Travis. The idea was conceived by Houston oil man Joel M. Cummings and with the help and guidance of three additional partners, Point Venture began construction. Initial building in Point Venture started with roadways, recreational facilities and a clubhouse. In 1985 the Homeowners Association took control of the community and in the late 1990s Point Venture was incorporated as a village. The village implemented a council form of government and a mayor was elected. The development today has 1100 residents and includes a clubhouse and a full service marina.
